A tweet out of Executive Vice President of Gaming in Microsoft Phil Spencer and Head of Xbox compliments the work put into the next installment of the franchise, calling it a launch for the series”.
Phil Spencer is no stranger to emphasise competitors for leading launches or a inventive unveiling. In the past, he has championed the idea that console wars have been unnecessary distractions–that programmers making their consoles fun places to play games. He has also been quoted as stating that video games are a really unique art form capable of bringing individuals together.
Though the Xbox One has trouble competing with the PS4’s ever-growing roster of console-exclusives, it’s reassuring to see a person in such a position of power attempt to encourage camaraderie from the industry and encouraging games as an art form or real supply of entertainment. God of War and Santa Monica Studios surely deserve the praise considering the amazing scores the game was receiving, but it’s nonetheless a form and genuine gesture from a competitor.
