Nicalis just introduced the complete version of the cinematic introduction into the indie-crossover arcade brawler Blade Strangers, which you can watch below.
Set to a rockin’ universal pop anime monitor, the introduction cinematic investigates a number of the characters both new and old. The game spans titles out of Studio Saizensen games (Code of Princess, Sayonara Umihara Kawase, etc.), Nicalis games (such as Cave Story+), plus some additional unique guest characters, including Gunvolt in Gunvolt, Isaac from the Binding of Isaac, along with Shovel Knight from…well, Shovel Knight. Turns out a lot of these names aren’t complicated to match their protagonists.
So far, Blade Strangers is described as such:
A malevolent force known simply as Lina is devouring information in the vast, interdimensional network of servers controlled by sentient computers called “motes.” In desperation, the motes summon heroes from various parallel game worlds to face off against each other in one-on-one battle. The championship victor has the capacity to be awakened as the Blade Stranger–the savior who will vanquish Lina and protect the motes from further injury!
