BioWare Veteran Designer James Ohlen has Departed the Studio After 22 Years

BioWare has witnessed a great deal of familiar faces come and move through time, but as of yesterdaythe studio is seeing another major departure.

James Ohlen, a veteran programmer and creative director at BioWare, declared that after 22 decades of working with the firm he has retired. “After 22 years I’ve retired from BioWare. I’ve loved my time with Anthem, Star Wars, Dragon Age and Dungeons along with Dragons,” Ohlen shared through his private Twitter account. He proceeded to state that he is in need of a rest from the business and moving ahead will “work on something a little smaller and more private. ”

Ohlen’s work at BioWare comprises each the titles he mentioned previously, with him more specifically using worked on games like Dragon Age: OriginsStar Wars: The Old Republic, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Possibly his most famed position held in the company during his tenure was the Lead Designer on Baldur’s Gate 1 along with 2 along with Neverwinter Nights.

While it’so easy to become worried anytime a noteworthy face departs a studio, this move by Ohlen seems more like it’s for his private benefit. In subsequent tweets after the announcement of the departure, Ohlen said that his next project is that of a pencil and paper RPG book called Odyssey of this Dragonlords. “that I ’ve been D&D enthusiast since I was 10 years old and I need to be a part of it again,” Ohlen clarified of this publication.
